Private Poll Shows Romney Leading in Iowa

“While public polls show Mike Huckabee leading Mitt Romney in Iowa, a new survey of an oversized sample shows Huckabee slipping and no longer ahead of Romney,” according to Robert Novak.

“A private corporate interest commissioned a phone bank survey of 15,000 Iowans who say they will attend Republican presidential caucuses Jan. 3. It showed Romney with 30% and Huckabee at 26%. Sen. John McCain was third with 12% and Rudy Giuliani fourth at 9%.”

Interesting finding: McCain was the leading second-choice candidate for both Huckabee and Romney voters.

Update: Today’s ARG poll is the first in several weeks to also show Romney leading in Iowa.

Quote of the Day

“To get real change, we need a president who will stand up against the big corporations and powerful interests that control Washington. Nobody who takes their money and defends the broken system is going to bring change.”

– John Edwards, in an interview with ABC News. He later said Sen. Barack Obama was “living in never never land” for thinking he could bring change by compromising with entrenched power.
